Results of trip:
Surfing: As usual just great. Not quite as big on average as 2002 but everyday there was great surf with no crowd. The lefts at Namotu are quick and long. The
rights are steep, fast, predictable, rarely close out, and are quite long as the wave twist around the coral.

Radio:  487 qso's, 54 countries. The tuneable 20 vertical and elevated ground plane were suffiecient to work the world on 40 through 10 meters. The kite antenna
was used on several occasions but the winds were not strong at times optimum for 80 meter operations most of the time. When timing was good and the wind
was up few signals were heard on 80 m. K6GT was heard loud and clear about 2 hours after sunset local Fijian time. However he did not hear me calling.

The nearness to the water really made the vertical antennas effective as predicted by simulation. During the WPX SSB contest I had trouble getting  a pile up
going. It seemed that many stations could not hear me due to QRM with so many stations on the bands. I did raise many operators and gave them a new multiplier.
Near the end of the contest I moved to 20 m CW. A huge pile up formed. Several operators mentioned that I was the only signal on the CW band. This kept me busy
for two hours and I finally just packed it in as the dinner drums were beating.

I would highly recommend an operation like this. The equipment is easy to carry when using telescoping fishing poles and wire as antennas.

160 meter ops is very weather depedent. Antennas require at least 10 knots of
wind. Watch weather @ http://www.met.gov.fj/aifs_prods for wind conditions.
